While the music of Carlos Chavez is sometimes not immediately recognisable as being distinctly 'Latin' the folk music of Mexico and the Aztec civilisations imbues his musical thinking with colorful rhythms exotic percussion and characterful themes. The 'Concerto for Tenor Trombone and Piano' is no exeption. It is very technically challenging but always musically-driven. The orchestral accompaniment is here replaced by a Piano reduction.
