De la mélodie du trio, Elgar devait déclarer qu’elle était de celles dont on n’a l’inspiration « qu’une fois dans sa vie ». Il réutilisera cette mélodie dans son oeuvre chorale Coronation Ode (1902) pour accompagner le texte Land of Hope and Glory d’A. C. Benson.
