A spirit of great joy and wonder is contained in this Eastertide scripture, musically expressed as a miniature dance suite. The tri-partite form comprises a measured recitative, an arioso, and a gavotte. The quick character changes are effected by contrasting vocal styles including sparkling mid-range colloratura passages perfectly suited to the mezzo-soprano voice. The suite is interwoven and rounded-out by a spritely organ and cello accompaniment, offering a jubilant work for soprano solo.
