Eternal Spirit of the Living Christ

Robert Lind has based this anthem upon the hymn text of the same name found in the Episcopal Hymnal, 1982. The text, a prayer to Christ for strength to serve Him, uses tasteful chromaticism to express the struggle and the hope that awaits those who follow Him. This anthem will expand the choir's ability to sing expressiviely while maintaining an exact sense of pitch and rhythm. Creatively blended into the organ accompaniment are quotes from the tunes 'Slane' (Be Thou my Vision), 'Purpose' (God is Working His Purpose Out), and 'Vater unser in Himmelreich' (Our Father in Heaven).
