A hauntingly beautiful melody intertwines with a traditional Latin text from the Mass. Pleading for God's mercy, the lower voices are shrouded by the angelic upper voices throughout. About halfway through the piece, the minor mode magically transforms into major, giving us the reassurance that our plea for mercy has been acknowledged. Perfect for Lenten and Holy Week services.
