This composition is a fanfare-like setting of the following Biblical passage: “Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.”
The work is structured as an “arch” form: exultant, rhythmic passages for instruments and voices to begin and conclude, with a passage of more lyrical and sustained character embedded within.
