This piece was composed in 2005 for a special Christmas performance in Midland, TX – the composer’s home town. Once also a resident of this city, Joneva Kaylen, noted operatic soprano now singing primarily in Europe, was featured on a special performance featuring this composition with the composer conducting and Ms. Kaylen as soloist.
The text is drawn from a Bach cantata and the vocal scores include an English translation which may be sung in place of the preferred German. The work is scored for Soprano Tenor solo, SATB Chorus and small Orchestra (2222 / 2000, 2 perc, hp, stgs).
