Intermediate students will enjoy the contrasting sections of this solo by Margaret Goldston. Written in A minor, it begins with a short introduction based on the dominant. The Andante section following the introduction is expressive and lyrical, featuring parallel thirds in the right hand. This leads to a faster and more rhythmic section reminiscent of a Spanish guitar. Both themes return one more time before the piece ends with a flourish. This will be an exciting solo for recitals, contests or just for fun! |
