Scored in the keys of E minor, G major and E major, this contest-worthy adaptation presents three themes -- The River, Peasant Wedding, The River At Its Widest Point -- from Smetana's 19th-century symphonic portrait of the Vltava (Moldau in German) River which runs through the Bohemian countryside. The first and last portions are set in a dramatic, flowing 6/8 meter, while the energetic wedding dance is in 2/4 time. Everyone plays a prominent role in this sophisticated concert presentation.
