This was written at the New York Chapter of the AGO Workshop in 1983. Calvin was asked to play for the final service and to improvise a postlude. When he found out that the postlude was to be the tune ENGELBERG (a favorite tune of his), he wrote out this composition instead. Its form is that of a prelude and fugue, which builds to a very full and exciting climax. |
