In his three hours lasting box-office hit 'Les Uns et les Autres' the French filmmaker Claude Lelouch describes the joys and sorrows, important events and everyday incidents of the lives of a number of people. The film covers a period going from 1936 up to 1980, including the Second World War. Many musical aspects make the soundtrack very important to the film; think of the Paris Music-Hall music, the Glenn Miller music in the States, the pop music and even the ballet music. The fabulous interpretation of Ravel's 'Bolero' is a fantastic climax. The Bolero, however is not included in this selection, as it has been published separately in a new arrangement for band by Henk van Lijnschooten.
