Bob Curnow has taken this great tune of Benny Carter's and scored it very much in the style of the Count Basie Orchestra. The chart is set in a slow swing tempo and is warm and soulful. There is space for alto, tenor and trumpet solos. This is a simple, elegant tune that Benny recorded with small groups a number of times. Very limited brass ranges (1st tpt. written high B) make this piece accessible to almost any band. 5-4-4-4. |
