I Saw Three Ships is a contemporary setting of the well-known anonymous text. In a rollicking 7/8 time signature, the asymmetric nature of the rhythm suggests the rocking of the ship. A lot of fun for the choir, who can have four members play the optional recorder parts. A woodwind quartet can substitute, or the accompaniment can be played by celeste, electric piano, or piano.
