In this sparkling new arrangement of a classic tune the spotlight is on the full ensemble. The trumpets lead off with the melody backed solidly by the saxes and trombones. The next chorus features the full band playing a soft yet punchy harmonized line in the Basie style. There is also a saxophone soli and a nice "winds only" unison section. The suggested minimum required instrumentation for the music in this series is 2 alto saxophones, 1 tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, piano, bass and drums. Parts are included for standard instrumentation (5/4/4/4) and all charts include a CD with a full version and a solo practice track. |
