In keeping with the title, there is a constant 'patapan' ostinato in the drum and/or voices. The piece gradually builds to the last verse, which bursts in before the third verse is finished. The medieval flavor of the final verse can be enhanced by making prominent the modal countermelody in the flute and the tambourine shake.
