Harold East arranged this racy Beatles' number for Barbara McGregor and her pupils at St. Paul's Girls' School, London. As with the sister arrangement, "She's Leaving Home", it has a flexible scoring for four Bb clarinets and a bass clarinet or, alternatively, an Eb clarinet, two Bb clarinets, alto clarinet and bass clarinet. This is a more demanding arrangement in a rhythmically active, jazz style which offers a good contrast to the reflective mood of "She's Leaving Home" should players wish to couple the two arrangements in recital. |
