Helen Lanfer received her music training at a major conservatory in Germany and with Eleanor Garrigue Ferguson and Eduard Steuerman in the United States. She led workshops on many college campuses including Teachers College, Columbia University, Hartt College of Music, Hartford University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her deep interest in the creative process and her abilities as a musician and pianist made for a long lasting working relationship with Martha Graham. At the inception of the dance department at the Julliard School of Music, she joined its faculty teaching music to dancers. The experiences portrayed in this book occurred while working with children and adults at Adelphi University's Children Center for Creative Arts and the Hebrew Arts School, as well as the Adelphi summer program, Dynamics of Creative Arts. |
