Named for their commander, Simon Fraser, 14th Lord Lovat, this company of Scottish marksmen was formed in 1899 and served honoraboy as sharpshooters and gatherers of intelligence through the end of World War II. Their quickstep marchwas composed in the style of a Scotch reel and could be played by a bagpiper in battle. This arrangement is a fusion of march and fiddle tune that lies perfectly under the fingers, and can be played entirely in first position throughout the ensemble. A catchy, nostalgic tribute to an important regiment in British history. |
