Connor Koppin's setting of i carry your heart with me (i carry it in by E. E. Cummings (1894-1962) uses only a few short lines from the source poem in a mantra-like fashion. The phrase,"i carry your heart with me" is repeated a number of times using different textures, harmonies, and voices, thus re-enforcing the idea of intertwining two souls into one.
