Quoting fragments of the well-known hymn, "Ah Holy Jesus," as well as the text from the Sanctus, this is an anthem of worship to the Savior who suffered for the world's salvation. Undergirded with an expressive and flowing accompaniment, the gradual layering of vocal parts builds, in each of the verses, to lush four-part writing which creates an intensity reflecting Jesus' sacrificial love. The soprano descant serves to further enhance the final, dramatic "Holy, holy, holy Lord.". |
