The genre of vocal chamber music follows the entire brief career of Vincenzo Bellini: for this reason these works are characterized mainly by different aesthetic intentionality according to the functions, places and performers for which they were designed. This critical edition is based on a considerable and unusual amount of autograph and printing sources which are not always easy to identify and find due to varying origin and circulation. They provide a complete overview of all Bellini's vocal chamber compositions known to date. The volume is divided into five main sections and an Appendix: Ariette, Cavatine, Romanze ? Scene drammatiche ? Composizioni a più voci ? Parafrasi ? Dubbie e spurie ? Appendix. The volume also includes a reconstruction of the historical context with a detailed analysis of the sources, an apparatus with the poetic texts and a critical apparatus to the musical text. Hardcover. Critical Edition Volume 14.
