With this volume, the high school or college bass clarinetist now has what other instrumentalists have long taken for granted: a single volume containing a diverse selection of pieces appropriate for contest, recital, or audition. Although the bass clarinet is often considered as a backup instrument in band and orchestra, its large range and expressive capability give it great potential as a solo instrument. The transcriptions in this volume represent a wide range of demands and are arranged progressively from easy-medium at the beginning of the volume to the more difficult pieces at the end, which can be challenging for an excellent high school clarinetist.
