Item Number: PL.0417
"The fifteenth-century carol in which Mary, the mother of Jesus, is personified as a rose, incorporates both Latin and English texts. In the writing of this piece, it seemed only natural to set the Latin text apart by scoring it for an echo ensemble, thereby creating a dialogue between a heavenly choir and an earthly chorus. The text virtually begs for this treatment, and the result is both heaven and earth rejoicing over Christ's birth in a simple and intimate retelling of the nativity narrative." Robert Weidner, composer Script. Ref. Isaiah 35: 1-2. |
