Written in a George Shearing style, this Frank DeVol arrangement was recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1960 for her 'Ella Wishes You a Swinging Christmas' album. The chart is written for five woodwinds (doubling on clarinets and bass clarinet), trumpet, trombone, vibraphone, and rhythm section. The arrangement features a simple bluesy riff that is passed around the ensemble until the end when the entire ensemble plays it together. There is a half-chorus baritone sax and trombone soli. Vocal Key: G This arrangement has been prepared from the original score, this is not a transcription. |
