Angel G. Villoldo (1861-1919) is considered one of the pioneers of Argentine tango. His Tango criollo El choclo (The Corncob), which appeared in Buenos Aires in 1903, is one of the earliest compositions of the new musical genre and soon spread to Europe. It is a catchy piece of music, a real earworm, and is published here in a version for violin and piano, for fun music in the chamber music frame or as an encore in a concert. |
