Prelude in D, written for organist David Ball, is set in a languid 3/4 with a lyrical motif in the melody which passes through several harmonic developments but is consistently soothing and satisfying. Registration suggestions might be for a large instrument, but the elegance of the writing insures success on a smaller instrument as well. Duration: 3:30
Exultation was commissioned by Choir and Organ magazine for the dedication of the Miller-Scott Organ at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. It is a short, fiery postlude or recital piece. Of the two pieces, the difficulty level we've selected definitely comes from this final one. If you want to start or finish with a bang, consider Exultation. Duration: 1:30
