The Third Sonata by composer Gerald Near displays the masterful compositional skills that has come to be expected from this noted composer. The Sonata begins in a buoyant 6/8 with open harmonies and a prominent pedal line. The Adagio that follows in the second movement is beautifully expressive and is followed by a fiery third movement that culminates with a flourish in the pedal. A wonderful recital piece. . |
