The Pezzi Uccelli are a series of six shorter pieces for solo recorder, whose motivic and thematic material refers back to the voices of seven different birds. No particular instrument of the recorder family is prescribed for the performance; the composition is equally free in terms of possible transpositions of the individual pieces. The order of the individual movements is free. That of the present edition is based on the composer's suggestion.
