Ohne Hoelderlin was written for Saarbrucken's festival Musik im 20. Jahrhundert. The two instruments devote themselves to exploring the multi-faceted possibilities of mixing and blending their sounds until they reach a table-shoving coda, which closes the work with extreme vehemence.
