Ferenc Erkel (1810-1893) was a composer, pianist, conductor and teacher, a leading figure in 19th century Hungarian music, creator of Hungarian national opera. In his operas based on Hungarian history (B谩tori M谩ria: 1840, Hunyadi L谩szl贸: 1844, B谩nk b谩n: 1861, D贸zsa Gy枚rgy: 1867, etc.), blending elements of the style of Bellini, Meyerbeer and Verdi with verbunkos he created a distinctively Hungarian opera genre. The 'Weapon Dance' is a popular ballet interlude in his opera D贸zsa Gy枚rgy, and in J贸zsef P茅csi's transcription youth wind orchestras can now add it to their repertoire.

Der 鈥歐affentanz' ist eine popul盲re Balletteinlage aus der Oper 鈥欴贸zsa Gy枚rgy', die jetzt in der Transkription von J贸zsef P茅csi in das Repertoire der Jugendblasorchester aufgenommen werdenkann.
