Musorgsky's lied Ich wollt, meine Schmerzen ergossen (I fain would outpour all my sorrows) is among the few compositions for which he set a German text by Heinrich Heine. Since the melody and accompaniment move within a range which in early music was designated as Hohe Chiavett (clefs in high register), I decided to employ a fivepart women's choir. (Gottwald).
