A solo violin begins this setting with the familiar Hamburg hymn tune. But the choir's entrance reveals that the hymn's well-known lyrics are being sung to the âO Waly Walyâ tune (âO Danny Boyâ). These two beloved melodies will take turns as the intensity increases. Following the dramatic climax the music gradually quiets to a reflective conclusion.
