Beginning with a single bass line in the keyboard, expanding to 2 parts, then adding in the men’s voices and eventually the women, it is as if everyone in the room is waiting on the brink, expecting something. The mixed two-part voicing is used for the first 3 verses, finally expanding to SATB on the final verse, providing a comforting expansiveness.
