Reminiscent of the beloved rocking carols that have come down through the ages, this piece has a freshness that endears it to all who hear it. The keyboard accompaniment is interesting in its use of a sixteenth-note figure that precedes beats 2 and 4 of each measure. The last verse features a beautiful descant that floats above the melody. .
