A familiar text is set to a new tune by Benjamin Harlan in this piece for SATB voices and organ. The melody rises and falls in beautiful, spinning lines. Women sing stanza one and men sing stanza two, with both sections using lovely descending thirds. An expressive, a cappella middle section opens into four-part harmony. The last stanza broadens with men on the melody and ladies on the descant before extending into four parts. This is sure to be a new favorite tune of this well-known text.
