My paternal grandmothers home where children played in the sun drenched streets and the sultry evenings were filled with laughter and music. A lighthearted and jocular first section is marked 'Allegro Assai'. The players neatly dance around each other and produce a frolicsome atmosphere. The middle section marked 'Andante' is darker and more intense. A Neapolitan melody echoes across the courtyard as the trumpet sings. Finally a return to the capricious first melody but with extended ornamentation throughout. The ending is marked 'Stringendo al fine' and enables both players to sparkle.
