Composed by John W. Fisher. Christian,Instructional,March,Religious,Sacred. Chords/Lyrics. 3 pages. John Fisher #928327. Published by John Fisher (A0.1342819).

JESUS WAS WALKING is a sermon song based on the sermon On the Way to Jerusalem preached by Dr. Paul de Jong at First  Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers Florida, on December 3, 2023.  It is an arrangement of the children's song, Walking With Jesus which I first learned in French in Haiti in 1965. I have seen it with cartoons on the internet in Portugese, Spanish and Japanese.  My lyrics are anything but childlike.  They portray what Mark 10:32-52 tells of the march of Jesus to Jerusalem, where he lays out to the tone deaf disciples that he will be delivered to the priests, and Gentiles, killed, but on the third day he would arise from the dead. And having heard this, James and John ignore his message and want to know who will sit on his right and left when his kingdom comes.  He has to correct them that his kingdom was not like that of the Gentiles.  The other ten disciples rebuke James and John, but Jesus teaches them that to be great, one must be a servant to all. Finally, a blind man comes forward asking a favor, but unlike  James and John, he only asks in humility that he might see. His faith heals him and the march goes on.

Guitar chords are provided and an autoharp would be appropriate.

Composed by Stanley P. Hung. Contemporary,Holiday. Score and parts. 85 pages. Stanley P. Hung #4607853. Published by Stanley P. Hung (A0.1024841).

Inspire Infinite Potential is the first original composition of Stanley P. Hung. It was composed for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Concert Band 70th Anniversary in 2019. MIT Concert Band was founded by students in fall of 1948 and directed for 51 years by conductor John D. Corley. He directed the band from its inception in 1948 until his retirement last spring in 1999. Dr. Thomas E. Reynolds continued the job of music education at MITCB up to now about 20 years. He is the current music director and conducting the band together with co-conductor Collin Myers. (Reference: band.mit.edu)

Mr. Hung had participated in a few public performances of MIT Concert Band and played trombone. His footprints not only appeared at MIT in Cambridge, but also in New York (2013), Maine (2014), and Philadelphia (2019) during spring tours. To come up with an idea by our originality then take it into practice was the spirit inspired by such ingenuity group. Therefore, Stanley tried to add this spirit into the music work Inspire Infinite Potential at creation stage. Its U.S. premiere was conducted by Dr. Reynolds and performed by the MIT Concert Band in campus (2019.12.10). The second edition is mostly based on the previous version. Some of notes, chords, articulations, and rhythms have been updated.

Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,March,Patriotic. 32 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758476. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158199).

There is nothing more quintessentially military than the grand sound of marches at special military events. Hundreds of marches have served their purposes through the many decades of military tradition in the United States of America. This 3.5-minute march was composed for the occasion of the change of command of the 55th Wing—“The Fightin’ 55th”—under Air Combat Command, located at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. The ceremony took place on June 14, 2019, which was also Flag Day. The new march served as a grateful tribute to the outgoing Commander, Colonel Michael H. Manion, and a welcoming gesture to the new Commander, Colonel Gavin P. Marks. Printed copies of the score were presented to the Commanders before the ceremony, and the march was premiered as the final pre-ceremony musical selection. The opening motifs are strongly reminiscent of the introductory measures of the “Air Force Song” most commonly played by Air Force brass quintets. Keeping in tradition with the form of most marches, the “Trio” section presents new material in a new key (down a fifth), with a contrastingly quiet dynamic. The opening motif of the Trio strain is a mutation, or a paraphrase, of “Anchors Aweigh”, emphasizing the joint-force nature of the 55th Wing. The melody is repeated with a louder dynamic and a countermelody in the horn, and then is repeated once more with increased excitement in the accompaniment, variety of dynamics, and even a temporary key shift. Straying from the form most used by the “March King”, John Philip Sousa, Dr. Thrower omitted a fourth or final strain, and instead he modulated the key back to the original B-flat major and brought back the melodic content from the first strain. This form predates Sousa, and was more commonly used in Europe and early America. It smacks of “sonata form”, and even the modern formal designation of “recapitulating march” alludes to sonata form. The final recapitulating strain repeats with an obbligato soaring above it in the first trumpet part, now on piccolo trumpet. The march ends with a short coda that brings back the opening motivic allusion to the Air Force Song. Due to the selected formal structure, this march, “The Fightin’ 55th”, is much more unified than most typical marches. The very nature of military marches (including America’s beloved “Stars and Stripes Forever”) displays four or even five completely unrelated melodies, or strains, throughout. The incorporation of thematic structure similar to that found in sonata form indeed makes “The Fightin’ 55th” an appropriate and even artistic concert march.

Composed by Albert L. Peace (1844-1912). Arranged by Joseph Pugh. Christian,Classical,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Octavo. 17 pages. Joseph Pugh #6133025. Published by Joseph Pugh (A0.855083).

O Love that wilt not let me go.Dr. Matheson says this hymn was written in the Manse of my former parish (Innellan, Argyleshire) one summer evening in 1882. It was composed with extreme rapidity; it seemed to me that its construction occupied only a few minutes, and I felt myself rather in the position of one who was being dictated to than of an original artist I was suffering from extreme mental distress, and the hymn was the fruit of pain. This hymn first appeared in the Church of Scotland magazine, Life and Work, in 1883. From thence it passed into the Scottish Hymnal 1884; and there set to special music by Dr. A. L. Peace. It is a beautiful and tender hymn and worthy of extensive use--John Julian, Dictionary of Hymnology, Appendix, Part II (1907)

This SATB arrangement by Joseph Pugh is set with classical style piano accompaniment.
