SKU: A0.582150

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by John Gibson. Jewish,Pop. Score and parts. 4 pages. JB Linear #5987501. Published by JB Linear (A0.582150).

Rivkele (Rebeka) a Tango from Warsaw, Poland in the early 1900's. It is a little surprising that tangos were popular in the European Jewish community around 1920. There had been a large group of Jewish immigrants going to Argentina in the late 1800's, and they in turn brought the Argentine tango back to Europe where it became very popular, especially in Poland. Those musicians made the tango format their own, adding the sound of popular Jewish cabarets and theaters along with Yiddish lyrics. The music came from a book of Yiddish songs, Yiddish Songs from Warsaw compiled by Jane Peppler, who gave permission to use her melodies and harmonies for this setting for flute and clarinet duet.

SKU: A0.594261

Composed by James Lord Pierpont. Arranged by David McKeown. Christmas,Jazz,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6570721. Published by David McKeown (A0.594261).

Jingle Bells is perhaps the best known of all Christmas songs. This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz style for one Flute and one Clarinet. Click on the YouTube link above to listen to a full length performance of this arrangement played on Clarinet.

When James Lord Pierpont wrote Jingle Bells in 1857, he had no intention of writing a Christmas song. The Christmas association had been made though by the dawn of the recording age, and the song has been popular across the world ever since. Jingle Bells holds the distinction of being the first song performed in space, sung by American astronauts in 1965.

With a performance time of around three and a half minutes, this version of Jingle Bells is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz style is a fun and fresh take on this familiar tune.

Jingle Bells is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody first appears in standard jazz swing, but most of the arrangement is in 5/4. This arrangement is suitable for players at an intermediate level.
