Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century. Score and parts. 83 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3627075. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534551).

French composer Jacques Leguerney (1906-1997) has been recognized for his outstanding oeuvre of songs for voice and piano, mostly composed upon poems of the French poets of the Pleiade. After his death, the Leguerney Estate decided to allow the publication of his instrumental chamber music. These works, many of which were written in his early years, are valuable contributions to the French chamber music repertoire, representing the 20 century from its early years
through World War II. This sonata was composed during October and November of 1925. This edition is based upon one autograph manuscript of the full score, as well as a manuscript copy of the revised first movement which contains nuances marked probably by Leguerney. There is no indication that it was premiered, although the ms copy of the first movement would seem to indicate that that movement at the least received a reading. We have added rehearsal numbers, and corrected a few notational mistakes in the manuscript.

Composed by Patrick Prejean. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 11 pages. Patrick Prejean #739248. Published by Patrick Prejean (A0.1138960).

I - La Violence (Violence) With some elements from Prokofiev's Sonata for 2 violins, this movement is about violence and it's many forms hence the title La violence. There is nothing nice about this movement. II - This movement is untitled as I did not wish impose a mental image upon the listener and performer. You'll hear the first fragment of Dies Irae that emerges from the shadows. This is the only happy movement. III - Angoisse (Agony) This is a harkening back to all the bad theory homework over the years in college. From the bad counterpoint to the solemn melody that appears later, this is a of a person who hides their pain away lest it spill out and cause horrendous repercussions. IV - La valse/devenir fou (Waltz/Going crazy) With elements of Ravel's La Valse and Weinberg's Cello Concerto, this movement represents a quick escalation of a deteriorating mental state hence the going crazy title. For a time things seem to dissipate only to come back even worse than before it crashes. For John Grigsby.

Composed by Giuseppe Tartini. Arranged by Linda M. Scott. Baroque,Classical. Score and parts. 5 pages. Linda M Scott #4295879. Published by Linda M Scott (A0.540543).

Guiseppe Tartini, (1692-1770) an Italian, was a violinist and wrote many works featuring this instrument. He is most well known for writing the violin sonata commonly called the Devil's Trill. This pleasing, brisk movement from one of Tartini's Trio Sonatas is fun to play for all. Some third position but the rhythms are easy and often in unison with another part. Perfect for beginning intermediate students, amateurs and professionals.
