String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845175 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Phil Beaman #6293717. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845175). Busslied (Penance) was composed by the Master, L. van Beethoven. It is the sixth of the Sechs Lieder (Six Songs), published in 1803, which foreshadowed the Art Songs of the Romantic Era. Originally for Voice and Piano, I have arranged it for Instrumental Quartet. My arrangement stays true to Beethoven's intent to capture the passion of the original text in the music. (The texts are all sacred poems by Gellert.) Without the presence of lyrics I needed to create musical interest and interpretation, so I realized inner voices and polyphony out of his original homophonic accompaniment. I added new shape to individual lines, altered phrasing, elaborated rhythms, and in true Beethoven style added more dynamic markings. The mood and meaning are now stunningly portrayed through music alone. Busslied is in three sections; Penance, the Impassioned Plea, and Acceptance and Absolution. Each section has a different key, a different tempo, and a different style. The final section has some virtuosic extended runs for some instruments.

Unison/Two-part chorus - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGA1128 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. Composed by Jeff Reeves. General. With Organ, C instrument, Handbells 3-4 octaves. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 16 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA1128. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA1128). UPC: 749193013151.This anthem of joy and celebration provides two text options commonly sung to the popular hymn tune HYFRYDOL: Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens, Adore Him and Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. A bright, flowing piano accompaniment surrounds the texts while optional handbells add a festive sparkle during the anthem's introduction and interludes. In the concluding stanza, a stirring vocal and/or instrumental descant, along with optional organ and handbells, combine together to accompany choir and optional congregation. This culmination of ensemble brings the hymn to a glorious peak before choir and piano close the anthem with a meditative Amen. Hymn studies related to both hymn texts are available on the Chorister Guild website.
