Praevius was commissioned by the voestalpine steel division and means precursory in the sense of the company’s slogan.Originally, the piece was composed for an overall performance of several wind bands at a difficulty level of 2.5 and a performance duration of about 3 min. The premiere of Praevius was in 2013 at the employee’s festival of the voestalpine in Linz with 5 voestalpine wind bands. Moreover, in 2014 the piece was performed at the district music festival of the Upper Austrian Wind Band Association by more than 900 musicians at the ceremony.The PDF contains the score and all parts. Franck’s famous Panis Angelicus, which is Latin for bread of angels, sets the penultimate verse of a well-known preexisting text, this time a hymn by Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), making for a powerfully inspirational vocal work. In this version, the composition was arranged for Trombone and Organ/Piano by Harry Walker.
