This is a very cinematographic and poetic piece of music. It was originally written for cello and orchestra, and arranged for cello and piano by Alexander Glazunov. However, as with all beautiful melodies, a different feel is achieved with another instrument. I have transcribed it for violin and piano. With the violin, it is technically easier as the original required very high positions on the cello, which is easily played with the E string of the violin. Also, it was originally in tenor clef, which may be challenging for some. In this transcription, it is in treble clef instead.
