Its inspiration was a rainbow he had observed looking through the haze outside an airplane window. Johnny Mathis so loved it that it became his signature song once the lyrics were written. Mathis's version was recorded in 1959. This arrangement for brass quintet (with optional drums) shares the lead between the horn and the trumpets while giving the lower instruments rich harmonies and countermelodies. It is a wonderful selection for concerts or weddings. Brass Band Instrumentation has been included (Eb Horn, Bb Trombone TC, and Eb Bass). Cornets can play the Trumpet parts.
