El Cid musically portrays the thrilling adventures and conquests of Rodrigo DAaz de Vivar, a nobleman and military leader in medieval Spain. This rewarding work uses an infectious Spanish rhythmic ostinato (3+3, 2+2+2 in 3/4 time) that undergirds the main theme, driving the piece as it builds. Ample percussion, including an important tambourine part, contributes to the Spanish feel. (2:55) This title is available in SmartMusic.

Spanish charm characterizes this engaging anthem that expresses hope for global understanding and peace. The recurring phrase Fe y esperanza, which translates faith and hope, offers children's choirs of all ages the opportunity to sing a simple Spanish phrase while optional percussion parts and a C treble instrument nicely enhance the cultural feel of the piece. More mature treble choirs will enjoy the challenge of adding the optional vocal harmony in the anthem's middle and ending sections.

English.

These songs are dedicated to William Osborne. The title Three Sacred Songs: was given to these pieces rather than the more usual terms anthem or motet because of the strongly secular presence in the texts. The songs were written over a period of some eighteen months. The Shepherd Lad was finished on February 29, 2008. The Round Day and Magdalene’s Song were completed in Brooklyn on June 11, 2009, the music having been originally sketched-out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2008, at Putnam Valley, New York. In the first song, The Round Day, the singer hears the voice of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she sings to the glory of God throughout the day. The text was written on June 7, 2008. In The Shepherd Lad, the Spanish mystic Saint John of the Cross describes a shepherd lad’s (Jesus’s) love for a shepherdess (the Church) and how another (the Devil) tempted his love away. Heartbroken, the shepherd climbed a tree, “And threw wide his arms in sweetest charity, Since by His Shepherdess He was forsaken.” The original Spanish text was translated and adapted into Villanelle form by the composer in early December 2004. The text of Magdalene’s Song describes the feelings of a mystic, or a devotee of Jesus, inspired by the fresh beauty, grace and power of the Lord of creation. The main body of the text is given to a soprano solo. The text was written on April 27, 2008. These sacred songs were conceived as being performed either as a set or individually. The composer had secular ensembles in mind, such as college or concert choruses, but these songs may, of course, also be performed in a liturgical setting. The accompanying flute provides introductions, interludes and codas throughout the set and, on a few occasions, plays with the voices. The piano part is ad lib. (optional).

By Laura Pausini. By Carta, Laura Pausini, Paolo Carta, and Pausini. Arranged by Musikeo. Contemporary. Score and parts. 4 pages. Musikeo #6433569. Published by Musikeo (A0.845491).

Invece no (English: On the other hand, no) is a pop song by Italian singer Laura Pausini for her album, Primavera in anticipo, released on October 22, 2008. En cambio no is its Spanish language adaptation featured in the Mexican telenovela En Nombre del Amor (2008). The Spanish version was nominated for the 2009 Latin Grammy for Record of the Year. This song also has a Portuguese version named Agora NĂŁo, but it was released only in Italy.

The song was written by Pausini and NiccolĂł Agliari and was produced by Pausini and Paolo Carta, her guitarist. The death of Laura's grandmother was the inspiration for the song.

The music video was filmed in Santa Monica and in West Hills, California in August 2008. Directed by Alessandro D'Alatri and starring former contestant on Survivor: Cook Island Oscar Lusth and fashion model Krystal Davidsohn, the video shows how difficult it is for a soldier to return to every day life.

It was released on the web on 22 October 2008.

It talks about a longing for a person. The music talks about things that were not said and old memories.

Simple ballad but with a touchy feeling. You'll certainly enjoy playing it!

About the title:

- First of all, entradora is an adjective that can be applied to a femenine noun. (In Spanish you have different declinations for masculine and femenine adjectives). The masculine version is entrador.

- Second, entradora can be understood in this context as a substantivized adjective, i.e. a word that is actually an adjective, but is used as if it were a noun, like if I say Now I will play 'Entradora'. (for a more scientific explanation check yor favorite English grammar book).

- Third, entradora is a wink to Argentine composer Julián Plaza, who used adjectives as one-word title of several of his milongas and tangos, for instance Nocturna, Danzarín, Melancólico, Melancólica, Sensiblero, Nostálgico, Disonante, Dominguera, Expresivo, Futura, Instrumental, Juguetón, Paseandera, Payadora, Solemne, Temperamental - and possibly others that I am not aware of.

- And fourth, the meaning of the word entradora in the coloquial Spanish of Argentina is this one: if applied to a person, is someone that easily makes friends, that wins the trust of the people very easily, who is very charming. I applied to an object (or to a melody) it means that it is easy to grasp, that you remember it immediately (as an earworm), that is accessible and uncomplicated.

- Oh, there is a fifth point: are you native (or good) English speaker? After all this explanation do you come to an understandable translation of this word, Entradora? If yes, let me know!

The milonga Entradora was composed in Bremen, Germany, from 10 to 13 November 2018. Duration: around 2'15. Premiere by Juan MarĂa Solare on 8 January 2019 at the theatre of the university of Bremen (recital Neue -und alte- Innigkeit, New -and old- intimism).

Second version: for 8 instruments. Premiere: Orquesta No TĂpica, 22 January 2019, theatre of the university of Bremen.

Third version: for piano four hands. Bremen, 16 January 2019. Premiere: Selma Hande Gade and Juan MarĂa Solare, Bellapais Spring Music Festival, Kyrenia, Cyprus, 16 April 2019.
