Concerto No. 9 Boston Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (First Edition) by Alexander Peskanov (1953- ). For Piano and Orchestra(Flute/1 Oboe/1 Strings). Alexander Peskanov wrote his Concerto No. 9 for Piano and Orchestra in memory of brave people of 2013 Boston Marathon. The music of the first movement describes beautiful morning of the tragic day. The second movement starts with two loud dissonant chords in the orchestra that symbolize the explosions that rocked the city of Boston. It's followed by mournful beautiful theme, first introduced by the soloist. The third movement is about unbroken spirit of Bostonians. The fiery music filled with energy and joy! It tells the story of the future Marathons.

Boston Commandery is a Masonic march written by Thomas W. Carter in 1892. It was dedicated to the regional office of the Freemasony that was headquartered in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. In the march, Carter used the hymn Onward Christians Soldiers by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan as the melody for the trio, with the woodwinds providing the obbligato above the music. There have been many composers who were Masons; among them are Edward E. Bagley, W. Paris Chambers, Herbert L. Clarke, Merle Evans, Henry Fillmore, Karl L. King and John Philip Sousa. And Freemasony also includes in its ranks such musical luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Gene Autry, Count Basie, Ludwig van Beethoven, Irving Berlin, Roy Clark, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Paul Whiteman.

Morning in Boston is a brief etude for multiple techniques: quarter tone bends, flutter tonguing, tremolando, and legato intervals. The music recalls 1982–1984 when I lived in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston. The calm sound of church bells is juxtaposed with contrastingly harsh city noises.
