Amazon Review of ‘Mysterium’ - This production is brilliant and musically sweet! The tone and dynamic range of the Ex-Vieauxtemps Guarneri Del Gesu, 1741 is incomparable, rated by many experts as the best sounding violin in the world, and is most responsive to the genius touch of Violin Maestro Anne Akiko Meyers; who, once again, amply demonstrates her unique typical elegance of violin performance in this new recording. She is well supported in this album with four world premiere compositions, all created with musically splendorous instrumental accompaniment on the pipe organ by Jaebon Huang and vocally eloquent talents of the LA Master Chorale. BRAVO performance, everyone.

Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by David A. Riethmiller. Baroque,Classical,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 21 pages. David A. Riethmiller #116291. Published by David A. Riethmiller (A0.504500).

This is the complete set of parts for a brass quintet arrangement of J.S. Bach’s chorale Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme. The chorale was a 3-voice prelude modeled on part of Bach's earlier cantata by the same name, first performed in November 1731. The cantata was in turn is based on the hymn Wake, Awake, for Night is Flying, written by the German Lutheran pastor, composer, and lyricist Philipp Nicolai in 1598, which is typically used during the end-of-year or Advent season. This arrangement is intended for a brass quintet of varying skill level; the Trumpet 1 part does not exceed a brief high G, but an optional Piccolo Trumpet is available. The three voices of the chorale are purposely divided among the five brass parts, to avoid fatigue in any one part. The bass part is taken by the Euphonium player, assumed to have a four-valve instrument accommodating several lower notes, but a Tuba may also be substituted, one octave below written.

Mixed choir (SATB) and Generalbass (organ, double bass, cello and bassoon) - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q19101

Sleepers Wake. Composed by Carl Friedrich Zelter. This edition: score. Choral Treasury. Downloadable, Score. Schott Music - Digital #Q19101. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19101).

German.

With Carl Friedrich Zelter's motet Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, Hermann Max, editor of the Choral Treasury series, has uncovered a real treasure. The three-verse text of the motet for mixed choir (SATB) and basso continuo was written by Friedrich Gottlob Klopstock who kept close to the Advent song of the same name by Philipp Nicolai. During Zelter's lifetime, the motet enjoyed great popularity. And quite rightly so: For the music teacher and friend of Goethe turned out to be a composer with an extraordinary sense of tone. An introductory choral movement is followed by a captivating bass aria which can be optionally sung by all basses of the choir. The piece culminates in an elaborate virtuoso fugue with an interwoven cantus firmus in the bass. A demanding, yet highly rewarding rarity in church music!
