In addition to his musicological activities and teaching at the Dresden Music Academy Carl Maria von Weber, Friedbert Streller also devoted himself to composition throughout his life. The piece, composed in 2011, was premiered posthumously at his memorial service at the Dresden Tolkewitz cemetery by Tobias Hasselt, of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Eckhard Wiegräbe and Uwe Gebel, of the MDR Symphony Orchestra, and Jörg Richter, of the Elbland Philharmonic.
