The long, lyrical melody borne forward by the steady, quiet, powerful accompaniment conveys a tranquil sacredness. The sense of entreaty and desire for benediction expressed in the Agnus Dei seems a natural fit with Handel’s famous melody. An instrumental introduction leads to the voice calling out agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi. An instrumental meditation follows leading back to the conclusion of the piece. Arrangements for other ensembles are also available (Vocal Solo, SSA, SAB) as well as separate versions featuring the addition of Solo Violin, Flute, Oboe or Clarinet and soloist with chorus. Using Psalm 121, this calculated 4:58 minute work was the offertory Nov 4, 1994, at UMC on the Green, Morristown, PA and I was there to hear it.  While tour guide at St. John's Cathedral, Spokane, WA the Kelcec couple came by for concert per old brochure while I was using organ (she assisted her organist), became friends, they returned next year, asked how does one write music, we discussed this text and we had the first line written before they left the second time.  It was performed at their church and I was there.  This is that piece.
