Each instrumentalist plays one and only one note throughout the entire piece. There are no expression markings – only dynamics. There are no special techniques. Each performer is “self-isolating�. 2. 48 instrumentalists – 24 violins, 10 violas, 8 cellos, 6 double basses. The entire ensemble covers four chromatic octaves. 3. Vibrato consistent across all instrumentalists. 4. No liberty with rhythm. Follow exactly as written. 5. This may be considered an etude – a study of volume. All instrumentalists should be consistent in their interpretation of each dynamic. pppp should be extremely quiet but still audible. 6. The change in volume for crescendos and decrescendos should be gradual – reaching end dynamic in a legato, smooth manner. 7. The visual of the dynamics in the full score – often depicts the program – like hieroglyphics. Or, in some cases, like the image of an organism viewed through a microscope. 8. Duet of Dina and Bar Kokhba is one of the three surviving fragments of music to the Moscow State Yiddish Theater (GOSET) production Bar Kokhba (1938). It is a duet of two main characters of the play, Dinah (Pnina) and Bar Kokhba. The text in Yiddish was written by Samuil (Shmuel) Halkin. The ranges of the solo voices are F#4–A5 and D#3–A4. Duet is definitely one of the masterpieces of Yiddish musical culture of the 20th century. Introductory text to the publication, written by Sergei Leonov, includes a short biography of the composer and a detailed description of the Duet.
