Robert Burns (1759-1796) penned the words to My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose in 1794. When Burns’ main publisher turned down the poem, he offered it to Pietro Urbani who published it with his own tune In Scots Songs (1797). The lyrics have been set to many melodies, but the most famous setting uses the traditional tune Low Down in the Broom.
